What is the difference between decorating and design
So you may be asking...
Interior design goes beyond choosing beautiful furniture and décor, it focuses on creating spaces that are functional, efficient, and thoughtfully designed for the way you live. An interior designer considers everything from space planning and traffic flow to lighting, storage, material selections, and how each element works together to create a cohesive, long-lasting home. Decorating, on the other hand, centers on the finishing touches that bring personality and style to a space, such as furnishings, artwork, accessories, and color palettes. When these two disciplines often overlap, they create a meaningful and beautiful space. The most successful homes are created when thoughtful design is the foundation of the design and decorating brings the space to life.
Meet Kaley
Hi, I am Kaley, Interior Designer and owner of Kaley Jean Design Co. My design Journey all started when I was around 12 years old, when family members would take me to go shopping for their home. I naturally gravitated toward selecing furniture, decor, and finishes, and quickly realized how much I loved sourcing items. This lead me to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design! I gained eperience through multiple intenrships and developed skills to help clients create homes that are both beautiful and functional.
What its like working with me
The Design Process
Creating a home you love starts with a solid foundation. A clear process ensures every decision is intentional, every detail has purpose, and every space reflects the way you live.
Consultation/ Discovery Phase
Where we discuss how you live, how you want to implement animals and kids in the space, what organization items you like and don't like. Overall this is where I dive into how you function and how I can implement your current and future daily routine into your space!
Ordering Phase
Once all items are selected, we move into ordering all furnishing, cabinetry, and items. We track each item and make sure there are no damages when orders come in!
Concept Design Presentation
The first look on how your space looks and works. We take everything you told us at the discovery phase and implement into a mood board, floorplan, and furniture plan. We make sure the design is starting to turn into everything you have ever dreamed of!
Bi-Weekly check ins & Site Visits
As most of the work on your end is complete, we still want to make sure you are updated and there is clear communication on how the project is going! During this process we will check in weekly on the project and have all floorplans, lighting plans, etc set up for the construction workers!
Final Design Presentation
The more detailed version of the concept design presentation where we finalized every detail through floorplans, furniture plans, lighting plans, 3D renderings, and selection of items before ordering items!
Final Phase
The final step in the design process! Where all items are placed and styled, pictures are taken, and you are ready to enjoy your dream home that is customized for you!
